This weekend in Georgia, you can find the Georgia Traveler team out on the road in Dahlonega for Gold Rush Days. Gold Rush Days are held annually on the third weekend in October- that's tomorrow, Saturday, October 18 and Sunday, October 19! The Dahlonega Jaycees, organizers of the event, tell us thousands come to see fall colors peaking and celebrate Dahlonega's 1828 discovery of gold. Over 300 art and craft exhibitors gather around the Public Square and Historic District, and it is estimated that a crowd of over 200,000 visit over the weekend to join in the fun and excitement. For more information, check out the website.
Our production team will be there on Saturday. Come out and join in the festivities!
Also in Georgia's beautiful mountains this weekend is the ongoing Georgia Apple Festival in Ellijay. The annual parade for this two-weekend event is this Saturday, October 18 and starts at 10AM. For more information, visit the official website.
Also this Saturday, the First Annual Rock N' Rib Festival will be held from 1-9PM (Rain or Shine) on the Square in Downtown Lawrenceville. Don't tell Phil, but the rib eating contest is at 2:45PM. There is also a pyrotechnics show at the end of the evening. And just for our friend Merri Brantley, the Assistant Director of Media at Georgia Gwinnett College the newest 4 year institution in the University System of Georgia, we wanted to make sure that you knew the new Grizzly mascot will make his first public appearance at 4 PM. For more information, check out the festival's website.
