This Weekend in Georgia

This weekend in Georgia enjoy a 1.5 mile hike through the Civil War-era textile mill ruins of New Manchester alongside Sweetwater Creek. Ruins to Rapids is hosted by Sweetwater Creek State Park in Lithia Springs, and commences Friday, December 12 at 7 PM. A small admission is charged as well as a fee for parking. Amateur astronomers won't want to miss Meteor Madness at Mistletoe State Park in Appling. Come and enjoy the spectacular Geminid Meteor Shower from a dark lakeside area in the park. Meteor Madness begins at 2 AM on Saturday, December 13, and will conclude with an early morning campfire breakfast of coffee and cheese grits. Holiday cheer abounds at the Christmas Candlelight Tour at Pebble Hill Plantation in Thomasville. The holiday-decorated main house will be featured, as well as a champagne reception and carriage rides. Live music and a presentation of "Christmases Past at Pebble Hill" round out this memorable evening. The tours get underway Friday, December 12 at 5 PM, and Saturday, December 13 at 5 PM.
