This Weekend in Georgia

Fool's Gold Mountain Bike Race and Festival
Friday, August 14 - Sunday, August 16, 2009
Dahlonega, Georgia

A mountain bike race and festival all in one weekend, the Fool’s Gold Mountain Bike Race and Festival, is Georgia’s first and only 100-mile mountain bike race. There is also a shorter 50-mile option and many different race categories. The festival will feature Q&A with the pros, bike demos, kid’s races, and a 29'er gathering. If you are a mountain bike fanatic or just interested, this is the festival for you. Here's the Fool's Gold 100 website for more info.

Sweetwater Creek State Park, Lithia Springs, Georgia
They are on the move, slowly swallowing up forests, bottomlands and fields -- engulfing trees, invading your gardens and sucking up sunlight! They are the exotic plants: Kudzu, Privet, and even Wisteria. Join a ranger on this 2-mile guided hike, and get to know the "alien" plants among us. There are small admission and parking fees. Visit the Sweetwater Creek website for more details.

And those are just a few of the events you can find this weekend in Georgia. For more ideas, visit the ExploreGeorgia website operated by our production partners at the Georgia Department of Economic Development.
