This Weekend in Georgia!

It's the third weekend in July. Check your local weather report and get outdoors to enjoy summer in Georgia! If you're looking for ideas- here are a few:

Augusta Southern Nationals
Friday-Sunday, July 17-19 in Augusta
If you're in the area, the 24th annual Augusta Southern Nationals will be held on the Savannah River this weekend. Drag boats race at speeds over 250 MPH! The Georgia Traveler team will be there Saturday during the time trials to feature the race in our upcoming third season. Friday Night Campfire at Panola Mountain State Park
Fridays through August 21 in Stockbridge
There are always great things to do at Georgia's State Parks. On Friday nights through August 21, you can bring the family to the Nature Center amphitheater for our weekly campfire featuring songs, almost-believable wilderness tales, and storytelling. Bring marshmallows, chocolate, and graham crackers for s'mores. Arrive by 7:45 p.m. to learn how to start a campfire. Please register in advance with the park. 770-389-7801. Kingsland Royal District Market
3rd Saturdays in Kingsland
Every 3rd Saturday of each Month from 10am - 2pm, you'll find the Kingsland Royal District Market at Located on the corner of Lee & Lilly Street in downtown Kingsland. This Week: Historic South

On this week's episode of Georgia Traveler, it's off to Georgia's Historic South. Augusta is our destination city, which we visit during the world-renowned Masters tournament. We'll visit the boyhood home of America's 28th President and the State Botanical Gardens in Athens. We discover the comedic duo Laurel and Hardy in Harlem while Phil Proctor finds healthy food for the soul in Augusta. David Zelski undertakes a search for Santa Claus.

Please note Georgia Traveler will not be seen in its regular Friday and Saturday time slots on GPB this week.
